Monsters and movies are a big subject of my collages, hence the term Psychotronic, which basically means about or relating to movies. I feel very connected to the idea that monsters are a metaphor for people with their inner struggles displayed on the outside. Revenge, betrayal, shame, blaming others, lashing out, anger, resentment... all these feelings that regular people go through, and monsters or villains just wear it on their sleeves proudly like a badge of honor. I think it's refreshing. It's the ones that hide and that you never see coming... that's the true danger. The title of this collage is taken from the tagline of The Abominable Dr. Phibes. starring Vincent Price, as well as some of the source imagery. I think of Phibes as kind of a precursor to Darth Vader. A bold expression of someone that's both man and machine, out for revenge for a doctor killing his wife. Open up a dialogue with your inner beast so you can regain command.
This is an original one-of-a-kind collage and there may be some light paper buckling, paper damage, and an uneven surface. It's fixed with light acrylic spray and stamped, signed, and dated on the back.
